Sign on our SchiffsanlegestellenWe docked at Linz 12, at the foot of the Nibelungen Brücke (Nibelungen Bridge), over the Danube River. Soon a cute little train thing came along--it's the Linzer City Express, which transports folks to the Christkindlmarkts and other sites in Linz. I heard that the cars are heated but I rather walked. The next two photos are taken at the Hauptplatz, where the Christmas Market is located. The light rain discouraged us from staying for very long there. The bottom photo in this section is a view of Landstrasse, where shoppers strolled in the drizzle. (That bottom photo is already enlarged and does not have a bigger view)

The Mariendom in Linz is Austria's largest church, with a capacity of 20,000 people. It's a Neo-Gothic structure that was completed in 1924. Also called the "New Cathedral," or "Neuer Dom."  This church was not part of the tour, and rather out of the way, but I was compelled to see it because of its massive and gothic appearance. Inside it was very cavernous and dark.
