Here is where the bridge material transitions from concrete (right/east) to steel (left/west). All these photos were taken from a boat beneath the bridge.

There are 5 viewing spots that extend from the 15-foot-wide pedestrian/bicycle path.

Cantilevered side pieces, made of steel, extend the width of the deck.

Double-Crested cormorants gather at the footing of old piers on existing Bay Bridge.

Cormorants also hang out under the deck. Where will they go when this bridge section is demolished?

This photo shows the replaced section of collapsed roadway deck after 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Notice the shock-absorbing structures used in the retrofit.

A closeup from the rebuilt span shows something fun...

...an even closer look shows a Bridge Troll holding up the bridge.
