 Two White-Tailed Kites (Elanus caeruleus) were very active in the air above my sister's West Sacramento neighborhood. They did some interesting flying behaviors together, in between perching in treetops.

There were other birds in the neighborhood, too, including a hawk that had caught a vole or something (see the furry critter in his claws, in the closeup photo above).

The Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum), below left, was one of a dozen or so that sat in this almond tree as we walked by. The tree has lovely blossoms, too early, I think. I hope there's not another frost. . .
